Prep the Pan
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, a silicone mat, or aluminum foil. Trust me, you don’t want to skip this step—sticky toffee cleanup is not the vibe.
Lay the Crackers
Cover the entire pan with saltines in a single layer. My half-sheet pan fits about 48 crackers. If you’re working with a smaller pan, just use what fits!
Make the Toffee
Melt 1 cup of butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Once it’s fully melted, stir in 1 cup of brown sugar and bring it to a rolling boil. Let it bubble away for 3 minutes—this is where the magic happens! Keep stirring so nothing burns.
Pour It On
Remove the toffee from the heat and pour it evenly over the crackers. Make sure every cracker gets a little love.
Bake It Up
Pop the tray into a 400°F oven for 3–4 minutes. When the toffee is bubbly and happy, you’re good to go!
Chocolate Time
Sprinkle 2 ½ cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Toss the tray back in the oven for 2 minutes to let the chocolate melt.
Spread and Sprinkle
Grab a spatula and spread that melted chocolate into a smooth, even layer. Now’s your chance to go wild with toppings! Festive sprinkles? Yes. Chopped pecans? Absolutely. Crushed candy canes? Why not?! The more the merrier for Christmas Crack!
Chill and Crack
Let the Christmas Crack cool completely—either leave it on the counter for 2 hours, pop it in the fridge for 1 hour, or if you’re impatient like me, throw it in the freezer for 30 minutes. Once it’s hard, break it into pieces and enjoy!
