There’s just something about New York City that feels magical every single time. The energy, the food, the people watching — it’s unmatched. Every corner smells like coffee, fresh bagels, and ambition (and maybe a hint of subway, but we’ll ignore that).
We decided to stay in SoHo, which is hands down my favorite area in NYC. It’s trendy, walkable, and full of the cutest boutiques and cafés you could ever dream of. If you’re visiting soon, this post has everything you need — where to stay, what we ate, what’s worth it (and what’s not), plus all the amazing NYC food recs I’ve gathered to share at the end.
Where to Stay
We stayed at NoMo SoHo — and I would 100% stay there again. It’s such a vibe. The entrance is covered in greenery, the rooms have insane city views, and you’re steps away from SoHo’s best coffee shops and shopping.
Why I love SoHo:
-
- Everything is walkable — cafés, pizza, shopping, parks.
-
- It’s full of charm (think cobblestone streets, boutique stores, and art galleries).
- It’s quieter than Midtown but still close to everything.
Other Hotels I’ve Stayed At
Public Hotel (Lower East Side) — Sleek, minimal, and lively. The rooftop bar has insane views of the city at sunset. The rooms are smaller but super functional and modern — very NYC-chic.
Hotels on My List to Try
SoHo Grand Hotel — Classic New York luxury with a boutique twist. I’ve heard it’s dog-friendly (Bagel would love it ) and the vibe is timeless.
The Mercer — Iconic, understated, and right in the middle of SoHo. Definitely on my bucket list for a cozy, high-end weekend.
Day 1: Coffee, Central Park, & Chinatown Eats
We landed around 10:20 AM, dropped our bags at the hotel, and immediately set off in search of caffeine and food (obviously).

Culture Espresso
Okay… this cookie is everything. I’ll be honest — when I first saw it, I was underwhelmed by how plain it looked. But the first bite changed my mind. Crunchy edges, gooey center, melty chocolate puddles. It’s easily one of the best chocolate chip cookies I’ve had in NYC.
Chinatown Food Tour (5 PM)
This was one of the best parts of the trip. The food was incredible, everything was super affordable, and the experience itself was just so fun.
Bring cash — most spots don’t take cards!

Here’s the exact order we went in (and my mini reviews):
-
- King Dumpling — Pork + chive fried dumplings ($4.50). Super crispy, flavorful filling. 8/10.
-
- North Dumpling — Similar pork + chive filling but a thicker shell and sweeter flavor. 6/10.
-
- Shu Jiao Fu Zhou — Peanut noodles ($3.25) + cucumber salad ($4). Perfectly nutty, salty, and sweet. Add chili oil for a little kick. 9/10.
-
- Mei Lai Wah — Pineapple pork buns ($2.80). Absolute perfection. Fluffy, sweet bun with tender saucy pork. 9.5/10.
-
- New Kim Tuong — Roasted pork — simple but tasty.
-
- Mango Mango — Mango dessert heaven! Refreshing, light, and a perfect way to end the crawl.
Day 2: Farmers Markets, Pastries, & The Best Burger Ever
We started the day slow and easy, grabbed breakfast, and met up with friends around Madison Square Park.
Union Square Farmers Market
This market is ADORABLE. It’s open every day and filled with fresh produce, local flowers, and the cutest seasonal vendors. Highly recommend grabbing a coffee and wandering through.
Cha Cha Matcha
I had never tried matcha before (crazy, I know), so I had to do it in NYC. I got the Purple Ube Matcha — it was good! Very pretty and not too sweet, but I still think coffee has my heart.
Salswee

One of the most beautiful bakeries I’ve ever seen. Their pastries look exactly like fruit — it’s mind-blowing.
We tried:
-
- Ham & Egg Tart —

- Ham & Egg Tart —
-
- Pistachio Square — 9/10
-
- Almond Croissant — 9/10
- Fire Cappuccino — rich + smooth perfection

Lunch at Chelsea Market
Such a fun spot with so many food vendors and shops. We grabbed the chicken rice bowl from Tings (Jamaican) and it was insanely flavorful. After, we walked through Little Island and West Village — perfect way to spend the afternoon.
L’Industrie Pizza (West Village)

The BEST pizza I’ve ever had. The crust, the toppings, everything was perfect. I got the L’Industrie (hot honey) and Jay got the pepperoni — both unreal.
Dinner at Au Cheval

I’ve wanted to go here for ages, and it completely lived up to the hype. The burger was insane — add the egg and bacon, trust me. Yes, it’s $36, but so worth it. The General Jane’s fried chicken was crispy, spicy, and perfect. 10/10 meal all around.
Day 3: Coffee, Chill Morning, & Heading Home
Morning Workout
Quick gym session before a day of walking and eating — necessary balance
Blue Dove Coffee
Smooth, rich, and high-quality coffee. I got the flat white, and it was excellent.
SoHo Diner

Such a cute old-school spot. Great American breakfast and adorable photo booth moment. I got the omelet and loved it.
Fellini’s Coffee
Known for their tiramisu latte, but I went with the Dolce Vita — a caramel latte that was buttery and creamy without being overly sweet. Loved it.
NYC Treats I Brought Home
I couldn’t leave without a few goodies:
-
- Chip City — gooey, thick cookies.
-
- Tony Bats — flaky pastel de natas (Portuguese egg tarts).
- Fabrique Bakery — soft, spiced cardamom buns.
